Businesses are completing more of their tasks electronically through the use of computers and tablets, but how many of their database management services still rely on hard copies?
Earlier this year, a and-Publications/Research/Industry-Watch/Paper-Wars-2013″ target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>study from the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) found that more businesses are considering leaving their traditional paper processes, but 77 percent of respondents only complete five or less tasks electronically.
“We know that in these very large organizations, especially government agencies, there are hundreds if not thousands of processes that could potentially be made paper-free, so we are still very much at the start of this journey,” AIIM researchers explain.
Records management takes time, but the only way businesses will maximize their productivity is if a majority, or even all, paperwork is managed within the electronic data processing system. AIIM also found that efficiency varies between departments because not every office has paperless capabilities. More than 60 percent of respondents said that accounts payable and human resources utilize these services.
These departments were also satisfied with their electronic data processing system because more than 60 percent of finance and human resource workers said that implementation was “good” or “excellent” for staffers.
On the other hand, only 40 percent of businesses that handle claims and investigations have such abilities. These departments spend a lot of their time sharing files with co-workers who are working on the same case, which means this a great opportunity to expedite communication with one another.
